JOIWAY Donation for Panti Werdha Getsemani, Bogor
Saturday, 18 February 2023 - JOIWAY Indonesia through its Corporate Social Responsibility section (JOIWAY PEDULI) continues to run the "Start From the Good" campaign. This time, the JOIWAY Peduli team together with employee representatives visited the Panti Werdha Getsemani in Bogor Regency to provide donations.
The nursing home for the elderly is addressed at Jl. Tatya Asri, RT.02/RW.06, Cijujung, Kec. Sukaraja, Bogor Regency, West Java, and has been established since 1997. The nursing home currently occupied is the 3rd location for this nursing home, having previously occupied a building in Duren Sawit Jakarta and then moved to Depok until December 2022.
Unlike most nursing homes for the elderly, Panti Werdha Getsemani only accepts elderly who are suffering from old age illnesses and have difficulty moving both inside and outside of the building. The foundation does not accept elderly people who are still healthy and have children who are still able to take care of their parents.
Currently, the nursing home is occupied by 17 elderly men and 9 women, who are cared for and monitored by a total of 15 employees including nurses and cooking experts. Approximately 60% of the nursing home residents are unmarried and therefore do not have children to take care of them, while the rest are widows or widowers who live alone.
The majority of donations received by the Getsemani Nursing Home come from the monthly cost from the family members of the nursing home residents. Apart from that, many people from around the area and outside the city also visit the hostel to give a helping hand, as was done by JOIWAY last Saturday.
The JOIWAY Peduli team came with assistance in the form of rice, laundry soap, and floor cleaners which were received directly by the foundation's management. After that, the team and the management went to the occupants' rooms to provide direct assistance in the form of goody bags containing soap, toothpaste, biscuit snacks, as well as towels and washcloths to each nursing resident.
Residents and caretakers were very happy with the visit of the JOIWAY team in the nursing home, apart from receiving material assistance, the residents also receive moral support and are very excited and happy to receive direct assistance from the JOIWAY team. After handing over the aid and taking a group photo with the management, the JOIWAY Peduli team said goodbye before returning to Jakarta.
